TMK Melbourne Announces Promotion of Zhun Lai to Associate

We are delighted to share that Zhun Lai, our Melbourne-based Services Manager has been promoted to Associate. Over the past two decades, Zhun has demonstrated deep technical expertise, outstanding leadership and unwavering commitment to our clients. Here’s a look at his journey with TMK. 

The Journey with TMK 

Services Drafter
Zhun joined TMK in 2006 after earning his Bachelor of Engineering (Mechatronics), starting as a drafter in our Building Services Team. He quickly mastered all aspects of services drafting.

Electrical Engineer
Within a year, Zhun was promoted and began leading large-scale commercial and educational projects, all while continuing to support drafting work. His expertise quickly broadened to include electrical planning, design, and lighting for subdivision developments, public roads, and community spaces. Through consistent contributions and a growing industry presence, Zhun earned a further promotion to Senior Electrical Engineer, where he took the lead on complex projects and played a key role in mentoring junior engineers.

Melbourne Relocation 
To be closer to family, Zhun stepped away from TMK in 2018 and went onto explore further opportunities in Victoria. When we decided to establish a permanent Victorian presence, we immediately reached out to him to help us in our expansion.

TMK Melbourne Services Manager
As the first member of our Melbourne team, Zhun has overseen all Victorian and interstate projects, serving as the primary liaison for clients, contractors and cross-discipline engineering teams on interstate engagements. 

Looking Ahead

TMK's Melbourne Team has continued to grow and Zhun is now part of a broader engineering team, which includes Temporary Works and Civil/Structural specialists to assist with all of our interstate projects and ensure TMK can continue to provide a holistic approach in engineering across Australia.

Zhun is particularly proud of his work on educational buildings and spaces, where he’s been able to apply creative lighting and services-design solutions to create a warm and dynamic environment for growth and learning, while making each facility truly stand out.
