Darlington Upgrade Project
2020
Adelaide, South Australia
The Darlington Upgrade Project was a key milestone in Adelaide's North-South Corridor, delivering over 3 kilometres of upgraded roadway. This project showcased an impressive engineering feat: a 195-meter-long, 3,600-tonne bridge was constructed off-site and then carefully moved into place using self-propelled modular transporters (SPMTs)—a first in Australia for a structure of this scale.
TMK played a vital role in this landmark project, providing a detailed design review of the temporary bridge deck during its transport on the SPMTs. We also design reviewed the temporary support towers to safely land the bridge, ensuring stability and precision at every step of the process.
