Meet Our Staff- Fotis Koklas | Senior Associate

As a structural engineer who joined TMK Consulting Engineers in 2001, Fotis Koklas later advanced to the positions of senior structural design engineer and civil/structural coordinator. His commitment, expertise and dedication to the organisation resulted in his appointment in 2020 to Senior Associate.

Fotis is responsible for the design, documentation and construction supervision of projects varying from domestic to industrial, commercial and multi-storey. He acts as a structural lead and project coordinator for design documentation and construction supervision of multi-level commercial, industrial and domestic structures utilizing all types of construction; steel, concrete, precast (including tilt-up), timber and masonry.

With over twenty years of experience, Fotis has played an active role in a multitude of projects through all phases of structural projects to completions.

What are the best projects you have worked on?

The redevelopment at 21-24 North Terrace, Adelaide posed a broad range of design challenges making it a stand out to work on. This was a multi-faceted project starting with commercial office building and redeveloping of the site to comprise two new floor levels over an existing four storey concrete framed office building. Additionally, the existing building required substantial retrofitting to upgrade the existing columns and foundations as well as undergoing a seismic upgrade.

I also consider this one of the most innovative projects I have been involved in. We needed to come up with the lightest possible solution for the added floors to minimize the additional load on the existing building and minimize strengthening works.
