Meet Our Staff - Sakil Mostafa | Senior Engineer

EA certification notice 3

Sakil Mostafa joined TMK Consulting Engineers in 2011 as a Technical Officer (drafting and building services). Originally from Bangladesh, Sakil came to Adelaide to study for his Masters at the University of South Australia (Uni SA). TMK was his first job in the industry and he liked us so much he is still here!

Sakil has advanced to the position of senior engineer within the building services team working on a range of projects involving hydraulics, fire, electrical and mechanical services. He continually strives to grow in a professional capacity, committing to learning both academically and through on the job experience. He recently received the status of Chartered Professional Engineer for Mechanical Engineering & Building Services Engineering. The award reflects his proven competency, ethics and dedication as an engineer and to the integrity of the industry.

Sakil is responsible for the design, documentation and supervision of projects varying from domestic to industrial, commercial and multi-storey.

Which projects have you gained the most experience on?

The development at 262 South Terrace, Adelaide. The project consisted of a new fifteen storey residential complex with 60 apartments and car stacker arrangement. An integral part of the project included the integration with the existing heritage building which brings a plethora of challenges.

I also worked with the TMK team on the Loxton recreation centre redevelopment. This consisted of two indoor multi use court stadium, outdoor courts, two undercover bowling greens, complete it a state-of-the-art mezzanine and upstairs viewing deck. This all had to tie in with the existing football oval.

Users of the centre would not be aware of the complexities of integrating amenities. For example the introduction of a new waste water drainage system both gravity and rising mains; new septic tank system; sewer pump system; trade waste drainage & grease arrestor tank system and a new LPG bullet tank system. Its not glamorous but critical to the site running smoothly for the local community.

Which projects stand out for you and why.

We provided engineering services for the Bokissa Island Resort in Vanuatu. It is not often that we have the opportunity to be involved on a project taking place on a tropical island.TMK provided a waste water disposal design for an island resort with no authority infrastructure.

We were also involved with the first Krispy Kreme factory in South Australia and this provided me with a opportunity to learn about the donut assembly system, not something that I had come across in my studies or time in the field. I also got to eat some donuts as part of the learning curve which was a bonus.
